Dark Arts Whiskey House's collaboration with The Project to Preserve African American Turf History, result is a bourbon that pays homage to African American turf history. This 7 year whiskey is a testament to the craftsmanship of master blender Macaulay, delivering a unique and unforgettable experience that honors the legacy of Isaac Murphy.

Murphy (April 16, 1861 - February 12, 1896) was an African American Hall of Fame jockey who’s considered one of the greatest riders in thoroughbred racing history. He was the first jockey to win the Kentucky derby on three occasions (1884, 1890, and 1891). Moreover, his 44% career winning rate remains an all-time industry record. Isaac Murphy was the epitome of a superstar athlete whose talent transcended cultures, race and time.

TASTING NOTES:

This is a 7 year straight bourbon whiskey finished with Toasted French Oak Staves.

Appearance: Deep amber with rich, syrupy legs coating the glass.

Nose: Aromas of burnt caramel, vanilla bean, and toasted oak mingle with hints of baking spices and a subtle floral note.

Palate: The palate is greeted with an explosion of flavors, starting with layers of creamy crème brûlée, followed by bold notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. The high rye content adds a delightful kick of peppery spice, balanced by the sweetness from the oak aging.

Finish: The finish is long and lingering, with the warmth of cask strength bourbon enveloping the senses. A touch of dark chocolate and caramel lingers on the palate, leaving a satisfyingly sweet and spicy aftertaste.
