New Riff Balboa Rye

New Riff Balboa Rye

$74.99

In addition to our flagship New Riff Bourbon and Rye, our distilling team has stretched their creative muscles over the years, producing a number of what we call "specialty whiskeys". Balboa Rye is one of the first specialties we made. Our corn farmer Charles Fogg has been growing heirloom rye on his family's farm for many years. His chosen variety was Balboa rye, an heirloom grain which dates back to the 1940s as a rye variety popular in Indiana. He offered it to us and we distilled it into rye whiskey, probably the first time in decades that Balboa has been made into whiskey and quite surely the only example on the market today.

Now it has grown up in the barrel! Typical of heirloom rye, the Balboa grain is a little smaller than modern varieties, with a lower output per acre of planting -- but it's no less flavorful for that! Our Balboa Rye whiskey offers shimmering notes of spiced fruit unique from our flagship New Riff Rye.

Appearance: Warm Amber. Nose: You will be greeted on the nose with notes of butterscotch, apricot, cinnamon, and honey. Flavor: The palate is rich and bright with toasted wood, Meyer lemon, brittle vanilla toffee, nice spiciness, and a hint of mint. Finish: The finish is long and strong.

Russell's Reserve Rye Single Barrel

Russell's Reserve Rye Single Barrel

$69.99

Eye: Light caramel. Nose: A charge of rye and baking spice followed by strong notes of pepper, dill, vanilla and citrus. Lighter notes of citrus, nuts and fruit fade in and out. It’s a wonderful rye focused nose and I enjoyed it immensely. A great cask. Palate: Heavy rye and baking spices roll across the palate, forging the path for notes of citrus, dill, dark sweets and a bit of mint to come through. Like the nose the palate is rye centric and wonderful. Finish: Long spicy fade of wood, citrus and dark sweets.

Buffalo Trace 1 Liter

Buffalo Trace 1 Liter

$69.99

There has been Whiskey made on the site of the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, for more than two hundred years. The first distillery operation that can be continuously traced to Buffalo Trace was started in 1812 by Harrison Blanton (yes, that Blanton). He sold the operation in 1870 and it was renamed the Old Fire Copper (O. F. C.) Distillery. It has been bought and sold many times over the intervening decades, but Sazerac has owned the property since 1992. They produce a wide range of Bourbons and Spirits — including their signature Bourbon.

Not only is the Buffalo Trace signature Bourbon beloved by its fans, it’s also really good and not overly-priced. In fact, it has become the flagship of the Sazerac Bourbon line-up. They keep the mash bill tight — Corn, Rye, and malted Barley with no Wheat filler. It is also aged at least 8 years and served up at 45% ABV. All that means rich, classic Bourbon flavor in every sip. For many Bourbon fans, Buffalo Trace is their "go-to" daily drinker and we think it would be hard to make a better choice.

Wilderness Trail Rye

Wilderness Trail Rye

Soft orchard fruits, sweet toasted oak, a touch of allspice, caramel and vanilla mingle in the endlessly complex nose. The palate is fat and mouth-coating with a shot of rye spice running through the whiskey. The baking spice flavors become more pronounced on the palate but there is still a core of orchard fruits and toasted oak. This balance continues into the long, long finish.
